THE ART OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
If there is one thing very important in a company or an organization, it is the talent and skill of people working for a common cause. No corporation or company exist without human resources that serve as the general workforce. They devote their time and also their life in performing a lot of tasks necessary for the success of their objectives and the attainment of their goals for the benefit of all. Money or compensation is part of the normal system but it should not only be a motivation. The commitment and dedication to strive for excellence must and should be the first in line.
The same is true of art. The term itself suggests a lot of options to think of. It can be music, kinds of dances or a painting worth the praise. Picasso (1881) said that everything you can imagine is real. From this point of view, we could say that only humans have the imagination to create something from scratch. Most of the subjects in art not only deal with nature or objects but also famous and renowned personalities in history.
A perfect example is the Mona Lisa painting by the famous Leonardo Da Vinci. Many were amazed by its unique beauty and elegance but there are also a lot of questions behind the renowned artwork. In an article by Scaillerez (1957) on Louvre entitled Mona Lisa – Portrait of Lisa Gherardini, wife of Francesco del Giacondo, it was revealed that the identity of the woman in the painting was not totally known or recognized. This prompted Scaillerez (1957) to say that the famous painting was shrouded with mystery. She, therefore, proved her claim by using the phrase: “It is thought to be…” followed by the unthinkable questions like how long Leonardo had worked on the painting?, how long did he keep it? and how did it come to the French royal collection in the first place?
This is just a proof that the reason why we humans are the best resources is that we are not just contented of what we see. Humans are intelligent enough to make an inquiry on something that is not certain. We want to make sure that before we believe something, the sources are credible enough to satisfy our questions or concerns. The above-mentioned revelations may also be contradicted by the opinion of others. Rogers (1879) claimed that Mona Lisa is the only beauty who went through history and retained her reputation. How come did a famous author not know about its irregularities? Is it because we were made to believe that everything that we see is authentic?
There are a lot of questions that we ask, yet up to this time, are still left unanswered. Humans ask questions to prove that we are the highest form of creation. We search for answers not only to prove that we are a rational being but also a creation who seeks further wisdom or knowledge. This statement was made true by Einstein (1879) saying that intellectual growth should commence at birth and ceases only at death. Socrates (479 BC) even used alliteration in his statement saying that education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel.
The flame here could represent a lot of ideas or concepts. It could be a light that is shed to cure ignorance or it could also be the burning desire to seek the truth, wisdom or knowledge. On the other hand, the vessel here also connotes the body or the mind of the individual who has the intention of growing up to where he or she was planted. In short, trying one's best to improve more on the field where he is inclined to like his calling or profession.
We should put in mind that not all people have the opportunity to go to school and finish a degree with flying colors. On the opposite, there also exist personalities whose success are overwhelming, yet, still strive for excellence in their day to day activities at home, school or at work. What could be the secret to success, if there is? Does success shape a person’s character? Is success following a pattern like that of an art?
Human intelligence, aside from the ordinary imagination, is truly a very powerful tool in art. It means that people who are creators and followers of art should not only be contented with what they see or create. They should also be wise to ponder whether what they made will be a source of pleasure or a subject of ridicule and insult.
A critical analysis of the works of art makes people truly the best resources. What they created not only brings happiness to their audience but also injects a lot of lifelong learning, especially to the youth, who will be future leaders and future human resources of their respective countries. The talent or ability to do something out of nothing is beyond question. Art becomes a medium to which opportunities are endless. It can either make or break a reputation based on how you present your thoughts or ideas through your masterpiece. It doesn’t matter if you do not know how to sing, it’s not a big deal if you step on somebody’s toes when you dance and it’s not so important if your drawings are awkward or confusing, so long as you don’t pretend to be someone. Just be yourself because it doesn’t hurt. You are your own unique creation and you should be proud of it.
